The therapy provision at Baston House School is designed to support the pupils’ overall development by addressing their individual identified needs. We make effective use of the pupils’ Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to design appropriate support and intervention programmes.

The Clinical Team at Baston House School consists of Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Psychology and Therapy Assistants. The team works with the whole school to develop independence, communication and wellbeing through staff training, joint target-setting, environmental adjustments, and use of a multi-modal communication approach. The Clinical Team also provides group and some individual support based on needs identified in the students’ Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).
A neurodiversity-affirming approach is central to the Clinical Team’s practice and there is a strong emphasis on student voice and collaborative practice. The Team use the Ask, Accept, Develop and Trauma Informed Practice frameworks when supporting children and young people to ensure that support is tailored to the individual student’s strengths and needs.
