Investing in the Future of Specialist Education

We are pleased to share an exciting step forward in the development of our specialist education provision.

From September 2026, Woodside Park School will become Baston House School‘s dedicated Post-16 hub, providing an enhanced learning environment for young people as they prepare for adulthood.

The new hub has been designed to offer an increasingly specialised curriculum, with a greater focus on:

  • Preparation for adulthood and employment
  • Independence and life skills
  • Travel training
  • Community engagement
  • Building links with local businesses and employers
  • Specialist Options Subjects such as Music Technology and DT

Creating a dedicated Post-16 hub will enable students to benefit from facilities and experiences that are tailored to their stage of education, helping them develop the confidence, independence and practical skills needed for the future.

As part of this development, pupils currently attending Woodside Park School have begun to transition to Baston House School, where they will continue to receive the same personalised, specialist support in an environment designed to help them thrive. Families are being supported throughout this process, with each transition planned carefully and in partnership with parents, carers and Local Authorities.

This development reflects our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality specialist education that meets the changing needs of our pupils, while ensuring every young person can achieve the very best outcomes. Our highly specialist clinical team will continue to support all students within the Baston House School community, working across both sites.

Mrs Elesha Lee, Head of School at Woodside Post-16 Hub, is an experienced leader who is passionate about helping young people build confidence, develop independence and prepare for their futures into adulthood. Having previously worked at Baston House School, Mrs Lee is pleased to be reconnecting with the many young people continuing their journey into Post-16, as well as supporting new students as they join our incredible community.

We look forward to this exciting new chapter and to continuing to support all our students and families as our schools grow and evolve together.
